ETINDI
By Kanute Tangwa aka K(C)anute Tangwa
Chiseled by the vagaries of time/
No less mighty as the Gbea Mountain/
To be their team/
No less powerful as Mt Manengouba/
To be their match/
No less potent as the cloudburst Kedjojang/
To be their equal/
ETINDI
A traveller did wonder at Ozymandias/
But came to terms with its leprous bi-pedal/
Travellers marvel at your perrenial nature/
And come to accept your efasa moto-nyango na muna duality/
A strong breed/
ETINDI speaks:
– Before Fernando Po, I am/
– I am in lava spitting Fako and Fako is in me/
– We are two in one/
ETINDI
Before the downpour/
Nimbus clouds raced across the sky/
Blanketing the tropical sun/
Shielding majestic Etindi/
Heralding things ominous/
ETINDI
Then the skies open/
Angry run offs tumbling towards down beach/
Overwhelming and blocking drainages along the Njengele/
Unleashing flood waters/
Erecting a brownish sludgefull wedge/
Upstream and downstream of mvo/
ETINDI
After the rains/
Then twilight, and the receding cumulus clouds/
Resting smugly at the base of the imposing Mt Etindi/
Surplombing the Limbe-Victoria green volcanic landscape
