Poetry on the Rocks ISONGO

By Kanute Tangwa aka K(C)anute Tangwa

The sky azure/

Giving a blueish hue to the wavy waters of the Atlantic/

Constantly creeping towards the ash-black beach/

In slow monotonous Nyango na Muna pace/

Crashing on boulders rimming the beach interminably/

Retreating measuredly leaving white foam-like champagne bubbles on its fringes/

ISONGO

Before the monoliths/

Plucked from the adjoining rises/

As if answering a fiendish call from Nyango na Muna/

Rogue waves charged like marauding njokus/

Laying waste hard-by farmlands and homesteads/

Recoiling with its loot as if to assuage the hunger of the famished sea goddess/

ISONGO
